You have a high schooler. And with that realization, graduation feels closer than ever before! It’s likely that you and your teen have been thinking about what comes next, even if you haven’t sat down yet to have that conversation. You want them to make the most of their time in high school and build the confidence they need to look ahead, but what exactly does that look like? And what does it mean to be a future-ready student?
Our high school program is designed to support personal growth and help students identify career and life goals. Below, you’ll find a brief overview of what we offer, including:
To get the best feel of our program, we encourage you to schedule a meeting with admissions
Academic Tracks
At the high school level, it can be challenging to know the difference between College Prep, Honors, Advanced Placement, and Dual-Enrollment classes (and which is right for your child!). Each student is assigned to one of our five guidance counselors, who will help your child navigate class schedules based on their personal goals. Your teen will meet regularly with his/her counselor to offer updates on

A Roadmap to Success
It is no surprise that 100% of our graduates are accepted to college, or that many of them are recruited by some of the best schools in the nation. We spend four years making sure they are ready to shatter expectations, thrive socially and academically, and help lead others in excellence. But we also recognize that college is not right for every student. Here is a high-level view of how we guide students down the path that best meets their career and life goals.
NINTH GRADE
We begin by walking students through a helpful college and career planning process so they know what to expect in high school. This includes an orientation to highlight the importance of grades and how transcripts are composed.
TENTH GRADE
Students may begin taking Honors classes and are encouraged to attend college or trade school visits where appropriate.
ELEVENTH GRADE
Junior students have one-on-one counselor meetings and discuss college or trade school programs that meet their interests. After preparations, students take SAT and ACT exams. They will meet with visiting college representatives at The Learning Academy, attend college fairs, and participate in college planning seminars.
TWELFTH GRADE
As seniors, their college counselor meetings continue, and they meet with other college representatives visiting TLA for recruitment. Students complete applications, may be given expenses-paid college fly-in visit opportunities, apply for trade school apprenticeships, and complete a transitions course that will help them prepare for what’s to come after graduation.

THE BAGGINS FAMILY
Supporting their dreams and aspirations.
High school can be a stressful season as teens begin to understand the long-term impact their actions will have on future goals. We guide our students through this time by:
Creating safe spaces to fail.
Students learn that failure is part of the learning process and critical to success.
Encouraging authentic relationships.
Teachers meet students where they are academically because our small class sizes allow them to be intentional in building relationships.
Fostering wise choices.
We believe high schoolers are empowered to do the right thing through positive incentives, and opportunities to see how good it feels to make wise choices.
A Safe Place to Learn and Grow
LEARN ABOUT CAMPUS SAFETY
Environment matters, and students in middle school crave a sense of community, safety, and security as much as younger children. Our K-12 campus is set in the quiet, residential area of Grey Haven. The middle school program has its own section of campus where students attend core classes. Our students share some spaces, such as the athletic fields, the makerspace, and library with other grades throughout the day.
